HELP CENTER
You Ask - I Answer
WHAT TYPE OF THERAPIST ARE YOU?
I am trained as an Integrative psychotherapist.
The simplest way to understand this is that I have been trained to help people, and understand them in a number of ways.
I'm not set on one school of thought, and I work with the individual to find what suits them. I always work in a non-judgemental, open way to encourage reflective and honest discussion between us. It is worth noting that I do not offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I seek to help underlying core issues, so that in the longer term there is greater quality of life.

I work with people aged 12 years and older.

There's a whole range of different types of modalities out there, and the main thing is to find one that works for you. If you're unsure or would like to know more information about a type of therapy please feel free to get in touch.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE, OR SEND YOU AN ENQUIRY?
If you use the online booking platform, I will contact you via email to confirm your time and date.
Within this email you'll also receive information about how virtual sessions work, along with some helpful hints and tips to make the most of virtual sessions.

If you send an email or leave a message for me, I always try and contact you within 2 working days.
WHAT HAPPENS IN MY FIRST SESSION?
Our first therapy session it is an opportunity for you to tell me about you, and what has brought you to therapy. We'll talk about what goals you have, and what you would like to change.

I will tell you a little bit about me and the way I work. We'll go through some ground rules, and what you can expect from me. We'll cover things like confidentiality, how to contact me outside of sessions, what happens if one of us can no longer make a session.

The first session is an opportunity for us both to see if we think we'd be a good fit together, and how we'll work together. We can go through different options for exploring issues, I have a number of creative options available if you find it difficult to talk.

You'll have the option of whether you want to have in person sessions, or virtual ones.
HOW MUCH ARE SESSIONS, AND HOW DO I PAY?
I have a flat rate of £80 per session, regardless of the issue you come to see me with.

Payment must be sent in advance of the session. Due to the virtual nature of sessions currently, payments are via bank transfer, for which digital receipts can be issued.

Please note that a 24 hour cancellation policy applies to all appointments, in that if you cancel within 24 hours or do not attend, you will still be charged the full amount.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Each session is for one hour.

You should expect a 50 minute therapeutic session, with 10 minutes reserved for closing the session down appropriately, arranging future appointments, and taking payment.

As the therapist I take responsibility for the time keeping, and will endeavour to let you know when we are coming towards the end of our session, so we can find an appropriate finishing place.
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY TAKE?
There is no definitive answer for how long therapy takes, it's different for each person, and partly depends on what goals you have and what changes you'd like to see.

Usually I see people once a week, this allows for enough time to process between sessions. If for financial reasons you need to come bi-weekly, please just get in touch so this can be accommodated .

There is no time limit to how long we can work together. I've had people who only needed six or twelve sessions, and others who have required a longer term commitment. I offer both, depending on the needs to the individual.
ARE ALL SESSIONS VIRUTAL?
No!

While I do offer virtual sessions for everyone, you can choose to have in person sessions instead.

Please just state on your enquiry which you would prefer so we can schedule something suitable for you!
